Amazon Prime Video が私に『犬王』をグイグイ推してくるので視聴を開始。
冒頭部分を見て、壇ノ浦の戦い(1185年)で失われた草薙剣(三種の神器)をめぐる冒険活劇を期待したのですが・・・琵琶法師と能楽師との交流を描いた、室町時代を舞台にしたミュージカルアニメーション映画でした。
琵琶法師によるロックバンドのようなパフォーマンスやスーパー歌舞伎のようなど派手な演出の「能」など、映像的・音楽的には非常にクオリティが高いと思うのですが、題材が万人受けするものではないですね。
ミュージカルっていうのは、ラストで主人公らを襲う様々な困難な状況が解決してスッキリするというのが定番だと思うのですが・・・今作のラストは微妙なので、ここでも評価が分かれるかもしれません。
まあ、「犬王」は実在した能楽師ということなので、史実から外れる結末にはできなかったのかもしれません（原作小説があるからかもしれません）けれど、もっとぶっとんだ結末でハートを鷲掴みにしてほしかったかも。
