映画『ロード・オブ・モンスターズ 地上最大の決戦』(2021年)

　パッケージの印象が映画『ゴジラvsコング』(Godzilla vs. Kong)を彷彿とさせる、『ロード・オブ・モンスターズ 地上最大の決戦』(Ape vs. Monster)という作品を Amazon Prime Video がオススメしてきた！

　まあ100円というお手頃価格で視聴できるということなので、ついついポチリとしてみました。

　登場する2体の怪獣は外宇宙物質(生命体？)を体内に取り込んでしまったことで巨大化した猿(チンパンジー)の”エイブラハム”とアメリカドクトカゲ。

　エイブラハムは冷戦下の米ソが極秘裏に行った宇宙生命体探査ミッションの探査機に乗せられていた実験動物。

　その探査機が30年ぶりに外宇宙物質を伴って地球に帰還。

　そして砂漠に着陸した探査機に付着していた外宇宙物質をアメリカドクトカゲも体内に取り込んでしまうという流れ。

　なんとなく『ランペイジ 巨獣大乱闘』(Rampage 2018年)っぽさも感じられるかな。

　さあ、どのような激しい怪獣バトルが展開されるのかと期待していたのですが、人間ドラマが中心でなかなか怪獣バトルが始まらない・・・。

　まあ、私が好きな東宝のゴジラ映画もそんな感じだったから特に苦痛ではないのですが、ハリウッド版のゴジラ映画の激しい怪獣バトルと比べると怪獣の出番が少ないところがもの足りなさにつながってしまいますね。

　でも、「怪獣たちは実は○○○に操られていた！」という東宝の『怪獣総進撃』(1968年)のような展開はとても好き。

　このあたりをもっと丁寧に作りこんでくれたら嬉しかったかも。
