ペロン一家が購入した悪魔に取りつかれたような家をウォーレン夫妻が訪れたのは、1971年11月1日とのことだということは、エド・ウォーレンのセリフからわかります。
ちなみに、映画『悪魔の棲む家』(1979年)のモデルになったアミティヴィルの惨殺事件が1974年、イギリス・エンフィールドのポルダーガイスト事件が1977年ですので、これらより以前の事件ということですね。
原題の「The Conjuring」というのは「呪術」という意味のようです。
これはあまり踏み込むとネタバレになってしまうので注意が必要ですが、ウォーレン夫妻が対決するのは生きている人間ではなく、ペロン一家に降りかかった「死者の呪い」です。
物理攻撃が通用しない相手に心霊研究家のウォーレン夫妻がどのように立ち向かうかというところが見どころになりますが・・・まあ、これはキリスト教圏の国向けの映画ですね。
